WHAT IS DESIGN FOR PRINT?//CRIT FEEDBACK//OUGD504

DESIGN FOR PRINT//FINAL CRIT
I took with me some spreads from my book to show at the final crit:
FEEDBACK:
STRENGTHS:

  • clear decisions on content, have thought about how the user interacts with stock and format
  • very clear thought process in design sheets, well thought out
  • good book plan, clear
  • good consistency, the table of the contents, blank space wise is good, make sure rest of the book has similar layout
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
  • make sure information more visual especially for the creative audience (more diagrams)
  • keep typeface more consistent, at least stick to three
  • subheading could be more discrete compared to the heading
  • make the CMYK & RGB circles actually colours, very important!
  • try alignment type to the left and justifying to improve readability
  • pictures - some concepts are difficult to understand without diagrams
  • fix a consistent grid throughout the book
CONSIDERATIONS:
  • consider your audience, its very text heavy
  • what text size is appropriate, useful
  • plan / draw layout before digitalising
