'A HISTORY OF...'//'CRIT FEEDBACK'//OUGD504

CRIT FEEDBACK- THREE PROMOTIONAL GRAPHIC DESIGN PRODUCTS ON TEA:

QUESTIONS I ASKED:

  • Is it clear on the leaflet what if being promoted?
  • does the use of two different fonts work well on the logo/stickers?
  • does the colour scheme work well/suit the subject matter on the poster?
  • Is there enough information on the products to be more informed about the topic?
  • Do the colours need to be changed on the logo? too bright?

STRENGTHS:

  • the tea cup illustration works well, good design
  • very informative
  • the two type faces work well together, text could be smaller
  • colour scheme is very appropriate, good colour used on poster
  • lots of information conveyed
  • really clear that promoting tea, the text and the teapot imagery help this
  • like the use of different fonts on the leaflet, clear hierarchy of type
  • like the use of colours on leaflet, the different colour tea, could consider using those colours on the main poster?
  • like the subject matter and the idea of promoting new teas
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENTS:
  • It could be clearer which side is advertising what tea- could possibly just use on cup of tea on each side so you can tell which side is what tea.  Or colour.
  • shorten the text to make it more catchy
  • the poster is quite busy, more use of negative space and leave mass space around the title to make it stand out more
  • perhaps simplify the layout of the text so theres more of a clear heir achy and line order
  • really busy, good because of lots of information but perhaps try making main info stand out more
CONSIDERATIONS:
  • consider the hierarchy of your type so that quotes read in the correct order
  • consider more evenly spacing text
  • consider changing the 'Twinings' text to actual logo, instantly recognisable
  • consider a background colour behind main info
  • the facts are all interesting, perhaps just take one and put it on a poster? they would work well as a range of posters

I think the feedback I got was good, I think people understood what I was trying to do and gave me some helpful suggestions on ways to improve when doing future designs.  I think in terms of recognising what needs to be do I definitely take on board the comments about the type and layout, I was trying to create an info-graphics poster where a lot of information was laid onto one poster but some one the facts were unclear cos the words weren't as easy to read in some cases.  I've also noticed a few typos which need to be fixed.

THINGS THAT MAKE GOOD QUALITY WORK:
  • good clarity
  • effective type
  • relevant colour/ image
  • originality of format
  • range-does it work?
  • relevant text
  • correct spelling and grammar
  • composition
  • originality of design
