WHAT IS DESIGN FOR PRINT?//MAC SUITE SESSION TWO//OUGD504

PHOTOSHOP
Looking at images in photoshop, looking at colour mode.  When using photoshop and working with images you can change your colour mode to RGB or CMYK.  CMYK is the one used when images are being prepared for print.  RGB (additive colour) and not subtractive like CMYK.  RGB not suitable for print, can only be used for screen.  Gamut range is to be considered with photographs, photo will originally be in RGB mode, either convert to CMYK or gamut can be turned on to see where alterations won't print as far as colours concerned.
When working in photoshop its better to work in RGB, gamut needs to be turned on to see the colour that don't appear in CMYK colour mode.GAMUT WARNING OFF, RGB MODE
GAMUT WARNING ON
VIEW>GAMUT WARNING: GREY AREA SHOWS WHERE COLOURS CANNOT BE PRINTED. (gamut colours too saturated)

Adjusting levels of the image, gamut area shows, through display of grey areas, will disappear where colours have been corrected for printing.

Window > swatches > swatches pallet will show up on the right hand side.  To clean out swatch palette hold ALT down an click until all swatches have gone.  Saving the empty swatch pallet, you can then select replace swatch pallet when opening another photoshop file.

To convert the image to work in inDesign the image needs to be converted to CMYK.  You can do this after the image adjustments have been made.
